CRASH DATA RETRIEVAL

AEA’s philosophy has always been to strive for technological advancements. Technological advancements and standards allow for the systematic and scientific reconstruction of a crash. In claims of vehicle malfunction, AEA performs complete mechanical inspections of all systems, including brakes, suspension, steering, and wheels.

The latest addition to the scientific tools that AEA has obtained consists of a black box recorder CRASH DATA RETRIEVAL (CDR) system. Since the early 1990's, vehicle manufacturers have gradually been installing data recorders in their newer vehicles. These data recorders are similar to the black boxes mounted on aircrafts that allow for the collection of data pre and post collision based on the deployment of the air bag system. The data recorder determines vehicle speed, engine speed, percent throttle, brake activation, velocity change, seat belt switch, and data summary. This data is recorded for two types of events, a non-deployment event and a deployment event relative to the air bag status. The non-deployment event is recorded if it occurs within five seconds of the air bag deployment.

What vehicles can be accessed? Most General Motors vehicles built since 1996, newer Ford vehicles and some select import vehicles. AEA has a complete list of the supported vehicles. Just email us or call and we will tell you if the data is accessible. Each year more vehicles are added to the list and AEA upgrades the list accordingly.
